Carrie Prejean: Beauty in the Eye of the Beholder
Top of the morn’!
How are you today, ma’dears?
Yesterday was a delightfully and marvelously warm day. Paotie and I spent most of the day outside, chatting with friends around town. My garden is also finally drying up and the shoots have been growing stronger with each passing day – I am pleased about that.
Anyway, we have important matters to discuss today.
If you are not aware, there is a bit of a scandal involving the Miss USA beauty pageant contestant, Carrie Prejean, and a number of photographs taken when she was still a minor. Now, apparently, Miss USA officials are upset with her for not disclosing that the pictures depicted her as “topless.”
I must tell you that I disagree with the officials. I disagree with them because “topless” is not always in bad or poor taste. “Topless” does not have to mean “perversion,” either, and I have a mind to email the Miss USA officials and tell them to shove it.
Oh my! I must watch my manners – please excuse my outburst.
I confess I find the whole affair to be unfair to miss Prejean. Poor darling. It upsets me to see so many people harshly criticize such a young woman for choices she made as a 17-year-old girl, and quite frankly, I did not and do not believe miss Prejean has done anything wrong.
A previous Miss USA controversy involved an honest answer miss Prejean gave during the beauty pageant competition. A tabloid troll asked the young woman what she believed in regards to homosexual marriage, and the dear woman gave her honest and respectful answer.
I quite disagree with miss Prejean’s view of homosexual marriages but I do find her to be a delightfully strong and brave woman. The tabloid troll asked her a live grenade of a political question, and rather than give an “appropriate” answer (or the one the tabloid troll wanted to hear), miss Prejean gave her honest answer – and in a most respectful manner, too.
Respectful honesty is a valued commodity, is it not? Yes, quite right, I do believe respectful honesty trumps tabloid trolls any day of the week.
Miss USA officials are claiming miss Prejean did not honestly inform them that she had appeared “topless” in the photographs that are just now being made public, though the whole bit has the smell of a strewn-out process of political blackmail and extortion.
Poor miss Prejean.
If the spirit of the Miss USA competition is to promote healthy, happy and beautiful women, then why does the Miss USA competition not include women with hairy armpits? There are many women who believe beauty is best natural and unadulterated without make-up or razor blades (or waxing if you are a brave), and the point I am making ma’dears, is that beauty is, indeed, in the eye of the beholder.
It is most apparent that Miss USA pageant officials do not understand what “beauty” is, and instead focus on superficial issues, such as tabloid trolls and “topless” pictures. Was there not a time when many women found Miss USA to be equitable to promoting bulimia and too-thin girls? Was there not a time when many women found Miss USA pageants to promote sexist stereotypes about women in general?
Strangely, I confess that the recent actions undertaken by Miss USA officials suggests to me that, indeed, the Miss USA pageant is more about upholding unrealistic ideals, expectations and perceptions of women in general, than it is about empowering women.
Shame on Miss USA officials! Perhaps I may email them and tell them to shove it and also where to shove it, too.
Well, ma’dears … we may not always agree on issues we are passionate about, but miss Prejean demonstrated maturity and wisdom far beyond her years with her graceful response to the tabloid troll. And in the face of the current and ongoing backlash regarding perversions of her pictures by Miss USA officials, the young woman remains tall and proud, and I do believe she will be alright in the end.
From an Englishwoman to a lovely, young beauty queen: you go, girl!
I am afraid must depart now and tend to my gardens once again. The weather is expected to turn dreadful again tomorrow, and so I shall return home and prepare my plants.
Until next time.
Toodle-Ah!

Well, you all knew this was gonna happen. Think about it – for one Carrie Prejean is pretty dang hot to begin with. I guess that is why she is “Miss California”. But if there are nude and topless pics like these 6 out there to be seen of a hot girl like this – you KNOW they are going to come out. Its a given. But can you blame people for not wanting to look. Oh, and the whole she is 17 thing – just an attempt to stop the spread of these pics but other interested parties. There are also rumors that these photos were originally leaked by Prejean herself. Yeah she may lose the crown but that will be nothing compared to the opportunities that are coming her way from this huge publicity spike (ala Vanessa Williams). Anyway – back to the 6 Prejean pics -

I mean look at these pics – she is smokin!

Dear Mr. Ewing,
Quite right – miss Prejean is, indeed, a curious attraction. If it is true she leaked the photos of herself, then she is even smarter than people give her credit.
Nothing wrong with looking, I declare. Isn’t it funny that the people who are making her popular and famous are the very people who seem most upset with her?
Perhaps Prejean has one up on the tabloid trolls?
*Sigh*
I applaud ABC Network for letting an ex-pageant, Vanessa Williams to portray the character in the TV series, “Ugly Betty.” ABC Network does not care about her credit backgrounds that includes the porn magazine. She is hellva lucky person that has a job.
Remember, an ex-TV preacher, Jim Bakker who used to be with an ex-mistress, Jessica Hahn? She appeared nude in the playboy magazine couple times. She hasn’t been recognized for long time. Where was she?
Remember, Deafread put you into an extra page because of a semi-naked woman who posed in your blog. Is it a simple reason?
Deafread and Miss USA pageant officials are the same boat. The oldest artists in Italy and Greece are pretty disappointed in Deafread and Miss USA pageant officials for *not* recognizing the naked models that considers part of the natural in the art community.
*Rolling eyes*
What were Miss USA officials drinking????
What century are we living in? Hello?! If our media (TV/Movies/etc) is so Victorian, then, I can see why this is such a big thing. Like Prejean said, “Models pose for pictures, including lingerie and swimwear photos.” What is so racy about these pictures? Even if she posed nude for some Nudist Colony Magazine (for an example, perhaps,) based on a fact that even Christian families are a part of the Nudist Community, what could be wrong about it? It would appear that all these photo surfacing (looming threats of MORE photos coming, even!) are a result of some smear campaign by person(s) over her stance on marriage between the same sex. It’s her view and she shouldn’t be treated badly because she thinks marriage should be only by a man and a woman. This says a lot about the perpetrator(s). It would seem that there are fanatics in every protected class in our society.
Dear White Ghost,
I understand your frustration. We must remember that the dimmest bulbs in our homes may often frustrate us, but sometimes, we must replace those bulbs with newer, brighter bulbs to lighten up our homes.
Sadly, that will not happen at DeafRead.
Vanessa Williams is a marvelously beautiful woman, I do declare. Look at what she has accomplished as a woman: a mother, a singer, and an actress!
And posed nude.
Lovely comment, White Ghost.
Thank you.
Dear Candy,
One could easily describe Miss USA officials as “perverts” for perverting the pictures into extremely negative views, especially with their use of the word, “topless.” As I stated in the post, I do not find her picture to resonate with the word, “topless” as Miss USA officials apparently conjured the image to being akin to being “racy” as if pornographic.
“Topless” to me is a man in public without a shirt. “Topless” to me is a woman without a bra and a loosely-hanging shirt that shows more than necessary. And “topless” also reminds me of the variety of club where women show their bodies to make money.
It all really does quite smell like a smear campaign, Candy. Poor thing.
Did you know a former/current pornographic star may run for US Senate?
Lovely comment, Candy.
Thank you.
Hypocrisy smells.
Something strange about Miss USA pageant officials getting their knickers twisted over a tabloid troll’s question about same-sex marriage and Miss Prejean’s honest answer (I mean, 50 years ago such a question would never have been permitted, much less aired), then hyperventilating over her “topless” pictures, of which was public knowledge to some people. Whaddya expect, virgins worshipping the patriotic altar? Time to give young women a break, how many more double standards do they have to jump? Women are humans, too.
Dear Mrs. Couthless,
There’s more photos in the Miss USA pageant officials!
Here it is:

Victoria’s Secret and Sports Illustrated would be happy to hire any USA pageants to model the undies and suits! Get more $$$$$. They have beat Miss USA pageant officials and won! Donald Trump and his Rich Richie would know that they’re the losers.
Hey Miss USA pageants, have PETA, Victoria’s Secret and Sports Illustrated help you and get the semi-nudes, get protest until have the Miss USA pageant officials, Donald Trump and Rich Richie to be heard!
What was the Miss USA pageant thinking?
Paotie! Don’t you forget that you ought to pay a wish to Mrs. Couthless a Happy Mother’s Day!
Hiya……Mrs. Couthless,
What the hell is going on with an American Idol? A judge from American Idol, Kara diogaurdi, has slammed a contestant, Katrina Darrell for wearing a bikini on the stage! What’s the matter with her? Kara DID NOT slam Miss USA pageants for wearing their bikinis on the stage.
