In Memory of the Blunted 8-Eyeballer
Denver – My name is Paotie – let me be blunt – it’s not what you think. You might think of blunts and frontin’ and stuffs, but that ain’t what you should think, either. I mean, blunts are nice if you are young but not-so-nice if you are older. I do not profess to be an expert at blunted people and why they smoke Canadian blunts because I do not like blunts.
What I do know, though, is that .. well, umm – I guess I forgot what I was talkin’ about.
It happens, ya’know?
I mean, one second, you’re steaming hard-core down the railroad, full of ideas and stuffs to type into the computer. And then when you – WHAM! BAM! – hit the dot at the end of the sentence you just typed, you realize you’ve got to continue.
WHAM! BAM! THANK YOU MA’AM!
I digress!
You cannot have a pause when you write, or else you’ll get distracted. ‘Cos, ya’know, if you stop writing and start thinking, then you’ve stopped writing and became a wooden camel. Suddenly, you’re not sure what you want to write about anymore.
Aigh’t?
But, something has to be typed because the last thing you want to do is leave your audience hanging. Like, that would be a very bad thing to do: leave a thought or a story unfinished.
Let me ‘splain: I woke up this morning and said hello to a pair of small, grotesque-looking 8-Eyeballers that stood guard on my left cheek. And then when I finished freaking out, I headed to the bathroom and was warmly greeted by another 8-Eyeballer, who evidently thought “speed kills” as it meandered across the tiled floor and headed under the bathroom sink’s wooden cabinet.
The titter-tattering-across-the-tile-8-Eyeballer was dime-sized and a little bit bigger than my morning mates, and my squeamish delight had caused me to flee to the kitchen in search of the largest glass bowl I could find.
Long story short: I saved the 8-Eyeballer and put it outside in the snow, where it probably (and hopefully) died from freezing or got violently hacked to death by the little old lady who lives in the apartment downstairs from me.
I want to get to the end of this story RIGHT NOW!
ALL DONE! FINISHED! FINIS!
I digress!
But something has to be typed so that people can have closure. Without closure, there would be no self-help industry, and you must always remember these facts when you write your stories.
Something has to conclude the thought or story. That is closure – concluding something so that your readers can feel relieved in knowing they have trusted you with their worthwhile time in reading the things you write.
Let me be blunt – I need to make a quick dash to the convenience store to get a little something something – writing is always and forever a train-wreck waiting to happen.
Life is about the journey and not the destination.
Please don’t tell the spiders.
Be good .. or be good at it.

Lol! Seems like this is more about you having a writing block doing your thesis? Yeah so, I’m just writing to say something and now I wanna finish it with, “I miss your articles cuz they make me laugh with my coffee!” Done!
Sheri ..
Yup! Yup! I had a little writer’s block one afternoon, and decided to break it by writing about it (it worked) after I had been distracted by a spider dangling off a lamp.
And thank you for the compliment, too.
Coffee? Ehhhhhhh .. ? Coffee makes me nervous and causes me to camp out on the commode.
Iced chais rule!
Paotie
Ewwww… I just checked out the link Canadian blunts… huge cigars!
I laughed at your experience with spiders… If I see ladybugs, I take them outside–no question about it. But spiders… aggghhhh… I just leave them alone or *gulp* squish them (only inside… but outside, I always leave them alone cuz they help control the insect population.)
Jasmine green tea rules!
Karen ..
Spiders are creepy. Tarantulas are hairy!
GROSS!!
Jasmine tea is pretty good, though.
Paotie
No! NO!! Spiders are good! They don’t bite, they sting! Better than most people do anyway…
Been begging Karen to get a Tarantula for a pet… I guess her sting is more powerful than her bark?
Ice-cold water rulez!
PS I have nothing to say. So, bye!
Be nice to Argog. Otherwise, Hagrid will get mad at you if you hurt him!
Shulda give a candian cigar to Ben Vess. He’s a cold turkey for weeks. Really.
Phew. Deafread have driven me really crazy with all the audism saga! Phew. *shakes head*
Snowboarding season will be over soon……Too bad.
Good to have you back. Be good or be good at dissertation!
LOL @ WG. It’s actually not so crazy anymore.
I hate spiders…but I hate other bugs even more so I leave them alone and hope they’re really hungry all the time.
Mountain Dew is the best. *nods*
Ah, ya must be getting the stir-crazies holing up with a dissertation and the deadline’s looming large.
And the cobwebs are collecting in your mind…
Don’t forget the No-Doze.
Good luck and keep truckin’.
I’ll be waiting with a martini to toast the finis of that damn thesis paper, so ya can get back to your funny self.
Ann_C
Hey Brian, spiders DO bite… that is how they inject their venom into their victims, turning their innards into soup so that spiders could suck….
Yuk yuk yuk….
I hate spiders.
Daddy Long Legs aren’t so bad, they just mind their own business and catch the other bugs. Even my cats leave them alone.
All the rest? I get the shakes and shivers. Over the years I’ve gotten better, tho.
Ever seen one of them green looking spider that has a skin that looks like a reptile skin? Thick and beady eyed? I found one way up north, once. Gross.
And, Spiders DO bite, whether they’re poisonous or not!! You either itch or die.
As much as I love teas, especially Green and Vanilla Chai, Diet Mountain Dew RULES!
All this talk about spiders isn’t good for our mental health! Yucky!
Anyone seen or read the book series starting with Twilight? I can see Paotie in that cute vampire role, don’t ask me why!
Ann C: When he is done, we will need to celebrate with Martini’s AND Car bombs! P-A-R-TAY!
ah..btw, WHEN is this thesis gonna be done?
Good afternoon!
Has anyone ever seen BEDBUGS?!
EWWW! GROSS!!
I’ve never seen one, but evidently, there is some sort of bedbug outbreak in many states.
Creepy.
Guys .. it is not a thesis. That is for master’s degree students.
And it seems like I will finish my dissertation in 500 years!
GEESH!!
Patience, grasshoppers.
Paotie
Sheri,
Yes! Twilight is the RAVE! I just did a blog on that a while ago. Definitely Paotie would be the perfect Edward Cullen! Actually, the things Edward says in the book reminds me of Paotie. haha!
And!! Jacob Black definitely fits Ben Vess!
I’m into my third series now – Eclipse. I’m so engrossed in the book.
I’m so in love with Twilight. haha. Silly me, I know. Someone bring me down to earth!!!
Paotie, you’ll get it done. Now, that’s a thought, all you have to be is to BE like Edward, and you’ll not have to worry about how much time you’ll need to get that dissertation done! 500 years will do.
okay…
that’s it!
This grasshopper is going to read Twilight in the next 15 minutes…Turning the TV off and all dat!
Dammit, and I wanted to read “The Watchmen.”
About the bedbugs, I’ve never seen it. But, I was told that it is common to find one in hotels/motels since usually it travels with the world travelers from other countries. If you see red marks in the crease or ends of beds, you’ll know it’s invested. Yuk. I’d rather be bloodsucked by vampires instead.
(Yes, I know I know! The book is down here with me)
NYC always have bedbug infestations. They’re just irritating. I don’t think one can really see them–only feel the result of their presence, hah.
That would be when I would let spiders in my bed. hahaha
Oh oh, Ben will be absent for the next 3 or 4 weeks. Bye-bye and make sure you take breaks to go to the bathroom and to smoke a cigarette (oops)!
Spiders do sting! Argog stings… Wait, that was not a true story!? So, who needs to come to earth, huh?
Paotie is becoming a doctor!! Aaahah! Run! Doctorate in what – pink snow bunnies and snowboards?
You and Ben can gang up and beat the snot out of me if you wanna. I’ll have the drinks ready for afterwards.
Brian,
Hahhh instead of beating you up, I’ll just take your secret stash of cigs and smoke ‘em all!
These books should have numbers on them! Like Harry Potter…Had to google it up
Okay, the prologue seems good. uhmm.
I read fast, so it’ll be just a couple days if its good, a whole day for the all three books if they’re incredible (like Harry Potter!)
Eeek! Sorry Paotie! I meant dissertation! I oughta know better since I have my Masters, duh me!
Candy – Im just starting the second book, Full Moon. Awwooooo! Ben as Jacob? There must be a twist from the first book to the second! Dont tell me!
Ben, Yes, my sixteen year old daughter is whom introduced me to this book series and said, “no comparison to Harry Potter!” Cuz that was my first thought too. GMTA!
Also – I heard bedbugs don’t like Mountain Dew?
Starbucks anyone?
HaH!
I ain’t seen nor read anything about “Twilight,” but I will now, I s’pose.
I’ll have to look it up and see what Ben wrote (and others), and start watching it.
I want to see “The Watchmen,” and am waiting for it to come out on DVD (like most of us without hearing tend to do) before I know what the fuss is about. I’ve read a good mixture of reviews and in general, it seems the movie is short on substance and long on special effects.
Cigarette smoking = smelly people.
PEUI.
Paotie
Deaf BOOK CLUB!!
Anyone interested? I am soooo glad I am not the only one with hearing loss who LOVES LOVES LOVES to read!
GOOD!
MORE! MORE! MORE!
Paotie
YESSS a Deaf book club!!!!
And I guess the first book selection fell to Candy with her latest entry on Twilight…
I saw the watchmen in open captions (i was kinda like OMG they show a superhero’s cock when he’s naked! Finally, a real superhero!) I was uhmm, let’s just say it wasn’t what I expected out of a superhero/action movie.
Maybe I’ll appreciate it better after reading the graphic novel. *shrugs*
But, back to twilight lol.
Ben ..
That’s a great idea about Candy. So, how does one start a Book Club like Oprah’s?
Also, you said:
“I saw the watchmen in open captions (i was kinda like OMG they show a superhero’s cock when he’s naked! Finally, a real superhero!) I was uhmm, let’s just say it wasn’t what I expected out of a superhero/action movie.”
LMAO!
Paotie
LOL it’s true. The size of it changes everytime. sometimes it’s small sometimes it’s bigger than the empire state building…*whew*
The way I see Oprah doing it is–she reads something she likes, she goes on TV and tells people she loves it and why.
(sometimes the author’s there, sometimes not)
Then everyone goes in a frenzy trying to get that book and read it.
No silly chapter by chapter discussion…just join in when you feel like it…
The only difference here is, our comment boards! Oprah just goes on her own rant and leaves everyone out. We discuss it if we feel like it
That’s how I would go about doing it, any suggestion for adjustment to optimize it?
BEN! Oh gosh, so now whenever we do end up watching The Watchmen, thats all we’re going to be looking for, “the naked superhero”! Sheesh! If thats all what’s on your mind dear, I’m not too sure Twlight is for you!
Deafy Bookclub! Love it, DO it!
Ah, okay – so — who’s gonna be “Oprah”, pushin’ books? Ben or Paotie?
Sheri ..
It’ll have to be Ben. I really do not think I would do book reviews really well, at least not with the wonderful imagery that Ben provides.
I mean, I’d write: “That movie sucks!”
And Ben would employ his own version of that – imagine at your own risk.
Okay, so .. s’pose we set up a Deaf Book Club – we can get widgets or banners made with some sort of design for it, and then we can all put it on our blogs (for those of us with blogs)? And alternate reviews weekly?
I once went to a book club, but after the 5th bottle of wine at the table, the discussion was less about the book and finding a “better bar,” so I’m clueless here.
Paotie
Ah but I thought the first book of the club has been picked…
Candy’s pushing Twilight! She even got karen Mayes making her son borrow books from his school’s library! LMAO
I could figure out how to make a widget for that…so tell me, everyone–are y’all on wordpress?? Let me know if you’re not
Ben ..
A banner might be better. Widgets can slow down a blog’s load time.
Some blogs I’ve seen online have way too freakin’ many widgets! It takes DAYS to load up a damn page.
GEESH.
Paotie
Yay a book club! Whoo!
I’m on wordpress…
Ben, I like the idea of something that is similar to Oprah’s, the way you explained it, although I have never checked her site out (shame on me..but, sometimes Oprah is too dramatic for me
)
Awesome, so, there’s not going to be a specific website for Deaf/hoh Book Club, but rather alternate on our own personal website on the reviews? Is that what you’re getting at? Sounds good to me, whatever you guys decide to go for.
Now, I’m really, very, anxiously curious about Watchmen!
That will be the next book on my list after I’m done with the whole series of Twilight.
Ahhh…..moaning…..ahhhhhh hey, green couch, Don’t jump to the bone onto Jacob Black! He’s mine!
Oh…tawt that it was Ben Vess….s’cuse me!
Charlotte! Come on over! Argog needs your help! Paotie’s so meanie to an innocent spider!
Uhmm…
I like the idea of going from blog to blog (at least with our new book selection, we could link back to “last month’s selection” at another blog and all…
As a webdesigner, I’m not very fond of the idea of having too many hands in the back-end of a website. One of my current clients have at least 20 individuals working on a site they want me to “clean up” and it’s been a month and a half and nobody seems to know what’s going on…
I’m telling them I’m going to reset the whole site and limit access to only two people–and now I’m being refused entry to the points where I’d be able to pull that off and stabilize the site. Fucking insane!
What about a forum or something?? perhaps that would be better??
I’m up for suggestions!
WG!
Charlotte’s in Kenya!
(she’s my former roommate in New York–now she’s in the peace corps…)
Ben ..
A forum?
Or we could simply .. like, Candy could publish an article on Monday (or sometime next week) about the book she’s reading, and then we could all either comment at her blog and/or blog about her book review/our book club?
What do book clubs do? The only one I went to was preoccupied with wine, women and writing silly-assed jokes on napkins.
Paotie
Oh my.
were there drunken tirades in that club??
The reason why I thought of a forum was because, see, my favorite smoker (Sheri Farinha) doesn’t have a website that I know of. Brian doesn’t either (but I’m sure he could bum someone’s blog
hahahahaha).
I wouldn’t want to leave them out if the club is restricted to blogs only..perhaps we’d do well with cross-posting (shutting down comments on the blog and putting a link to the forum) this way the nonwebsite owners can participate in selecting their books?
uhm?
Ben ..
Good point. Let me think about opening a forum here again.
Any progress on the banner/widget?
Ya, I see what you mean, Ben, about too many hands.
A forum is nice but then again, does one need admin access to post a review? probably not, right?
Our own blogs are nice and it wouldn’t be too much trouble for anyone to start a new one. blogger is VERY easy and simple, one does not need to fancy up these sites.
I’m open to anything…I’d go with the flow.
Paotie, eh? wine book clubs? that’s new to to me. Wow, that is somethin’ Wines and Books do not mix, IMO. Well..maybe not, we’d hear things that would be juicy and interesting, I suppose.
Typical online bookclubs tend to ask that members read a certain book and to discuss it at some time in the future, which of course we all don’t want to do that. I like Ben’s idea of something that is similar to Oprah’s book club. We don’t want to be under the burden of reading a specific book, but to leave it open for us to choose to read it now or later??
Keep in mind, with the review, one could always write it up and submit it to a admin person. And the rest after that would be feedbacks or whatever it is and one could always drink wine in the privacy of their home, if they wish to.
Ahh never mind my comment. A forum it is.
That’s Charlotte’s best friend, Wilbur. A nice and innocent Pig!
Forum? Wine? Book Club? Women’s Only? Com’n, Paotie! If you don’t have one, join the women’s book club. Don’t be chicken!
Make sure we hire the cyber-patrol-spam!
The banner? Uhm! How should it be designed?
Square? leaderboard (across the screen but small in height??) Should I design at least a few??
What colors? uhmm. Lemme check out ideas for other book club banners and see what I can pull off.
Create several to your heart’s content and share it with us and we’ll discuss and vote.
A colorful banner would be GREAT! Lots of colors!
Doesn’t really matter what size the banner is, but it needs to fit our templates, so .. probably a couple small banners with options for the bigger ones for people who want ‘em bigger.
Well, we could set up a Deaf Book Club blogging site – that could be our forum? Get one from blogger.com or something?
DeafBookClub.blogger.com?
Nice and easy.
Make at least one with an animated bookworm. (heh)
LOL
Or a vampiric spider?? LOLOL
LOL ya, considering Twilight kind of nudged this forward.
I thought blogger is where you register and the site would be .blogspot.com??
which one would be best? wordpress.com or blogspot? typepad? lol
*hits head*
I’ll hush now
If we’re gonna do blogger, who’s gonna start it up? Ben? Paotie? Anyone? me? lol
You’re right blogger is blogspot.com
From my experience blogger is very simple compared to WP but WP is neat. Blogger has limited templates whereas WP you can import.
let me think on that one. We may be able to get DBC.com or something.
Deaf Book Club I meant… har har!
blogger you can change colors a LOT!
OMG!
I know right!!!!!
LMAO LMAO!
That would be hilarious I mean, We’d be changing the face of DBC foreva!
the only one available would be dbc.us
blah.
I think it would be hilarious to make Deaf Book Club a DeafRead blog. Oh the irony!
AARRRGH! I’m gonna have to watch ‘Watchmen’ after the way Ben described it, lol. Ben can do the spin on NYC Housewives, why not the Twilight series.
Let me know about the Deaf Book Club, eh, forum, whatever.
Now I know I’m not gonna get anything else done.
Paotie, yah, I know the diff between a thesis paper and a dissertation. It’s just that I thot the dizzertation was making you dizzy.
Don’t let the bedbugs bite,
If they do, take a shoe
And beat them
‘Til they’re black and blue!
Ann_C
Oh good lord, a spin off on the Twilight Characters?!
OMG! I SO could do that!
They will be my tabloid fodder!!!
I have wordpress, btw.
The Deaf Book Club a DR blog? Whoo…making comparisions of characters to… OMG, Ben, that’s brilliant!
Ann_C
LOL! Oh man, you guys are keepin’ my pager buzzin’ all afternoon!
Ben, you’re cracking me up! dbc or deafread, LOL!
(Shhhh, don’t tell Paotie I’m a smoker, he just said he hates smokers, now what am I gonna do? Quit or somethang? Helllno!)
You all sure ya wanna it be just books? Ben here brought up his favorite scene from a movie! SO?
Can’tcha just add a Book/Movie Club to Paotie’s couch ptotato site? Its hard enough to keep up with blogs, let alone trying to find Ben or Candy’s! Paotie is on my RSS Feeds to outlook. The others dont allow me to do this – so?
How bout, Deaf Books/Movies/Wine CLUB, this includes the wine that should come with it, any wine critics out there? How about the Deaf ENTERTAINMENT CLUB, LOL….
So? My vote is:
“BenPaotieCandy’s Entertainment Book/Movie/Wine Club”
Whateva!
How about Dracula’s Book Club (DBC)?
WG’s suggestion…LMAO!!!!
Deaf Book Club also= DBC, come to think of it.
Ohh? My RSS?? let me get it out for you. Just so you know Sheri, I no longer am a member on DeafRead so I won’t be showing up ova’ there no mor’!
there’s my feed: http://blog.benvess.com/?feed=rss2
perhaps it’ll work then??
I’m seriously thinking of something to call it. Since you’re right about me talking about a movie (glow in the dark cock! So phallic!)
it’s gotta be sharp and hilarious! Maybe this?
“iDEAR Club” (I don’t expect a reply Club) LOLOLOLOL. I just love that line…
Considering we’re doing it the Oprah way…
I don’t think Oprah ever expects a reply from her members of her book club
Oops, my bad. Hadn’t read thru all the comments to realize DBC already come up. I imagine if it were DBC founders talking about a starting a deaf book club, they’d name it Dumb Bell’s Club.
OK, I’m outta here.
OMG! WG – you is baaaaaaadddd! Aw, crap, we can’t do that! Next thing ya know Ben will get labled a bad ass cyberbully dude again! Lets NOT go there!
Here’s a couple resources I googled to help out:
1. http://www.booktalk.org/
2. http://www.book-clubs-resource.com/online/
Thanks Ben, just added it to my RSS feed! Mmmwah! The rest of you who have blogs, lemme know yours as well. Thanks!
LOL
Ok, I’m going to trust that Ben will wow us all…
I got stuffs to do now, will be back later in a couple of hours to check out the latest.
Sheri,
Mine is, I believe:
http://candysweetblog.wordpress.com/feed/
Let me know if it works.
Candy,
I just checked your link and yep it took me directly to your feed!
let’s hope it works for sheri
Yup, yup! I got Candy’s downpat, and then I saw Ann C’s (didn’t know she had a blog!) and added hers. Cept, you three don’t have the “notify me if there are followup comments” tag like Paotie does, which his site comments go to my pager, and i still haven’t figured out how to respond from pager! With all the work I do with technology committee and e9-1-1, I can be technically stoopid with pager! When theres no notification after I leave a site, its kinda hard to check esp when I am not at my desk.
Anyhoo! I just read Ann C’s latest, and whoa baby! You all were quite busy commenting on THAT issue yesterday! See see! I miss out! Ummm, I’ve my own opinion of course, and it probably differs from alot of yours here.
SO, I will be nice and not share. hahaha. Loved P’s “EVA”. Right on, dude!
Is it officially wine time now?
Later! xo
Heeeeeeeeeellllllllllllllllllllloooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!! I am Brian and Karen Mayes’ son, I am 12 years old (my dad thinks I’m eleven so don’t tell him!)
About twilight books, I am not forcing her to read it, my aunt and cousins are!
Although…… It is a excellent series, I have read each book like 3 times and they are great! One thing i will admit that i do not like about this book is Edward’s resistance to Bella becoming a vampire. I mean, let the girl decide, she is eighteen for gods sake!
David
My gawd! You’re 12! This blog is for the adult only! My gawd.
We’ll be careful with all the sex talks…….. :-0
Make sure you not to drink some wines. The red ones. Shhh….
Hi,
I just told him that he only made his first and last comment on Paotie’s blog and that he’d not comment on this blog until he turns 16 years old.
Sorry about it.
I am kicking him to bed now.
Hahahahahaha David! Good to see you here!
Now, now Karen you read my mind–I was like *gasp*
my language!!!!!!!
LOL!
y’all are too sweet
Yea, sorry about that… I said no, but Karen said ok without reading the blogs. So, no harm done.
You are open to say whateve you want.
I’m all for it! I will call it DBC and everyone will be confused and then John Eggplant will bitch and moan for life…. Heh heh!! *little horns growing on my head* Why not spell it out?? http://www.deafbookclub.com, I just checked it and it is available. Whatcha say?
So, let’s party in our own way!
HaH!
Yes! Yes! Deaf Book Club = DBC!
HaHa!
I dunno, though. I kinda like iDear.
Blame Ben for that, too!
Paotie
Brian ..
One other thing – my blog was rated as “PG” recently by one of those blog ranking web sites (I forgot which one and will try to find it for you).
That was before Ben’s version of a superhero arrived here, of course.
Paotie
……or Dumb Book Club.
Oh lord…
But seriously, you guys really can’t miss it. I would find it truly hard to believe there wouldn’t be a peep about it in one of your blogs after you’ve seen it!!
hahahahahaha.
It glows in the dark! And he didn’t need help from Trojans!
There once was a spider named Ben.
Who had a thing for glow-in-the-dark-watchmen!
Tis in the process of spinnin’ a web-banner for book’ens!
His bed is full of loveable bedbugs! All swimmin’ in his mountain dew!
Ew!
Can’t wait to see this new banner too!
A new forum for you
Of Books, wine, movies, wine, blogs, wine, and whines.
Did I mention, wine?
Oh Ben!
Be careful of the wee ones eyes, oh blogger divine!
La-dee-dah!
LMAO!! Sheri, you are funny!
Ok, Paotie, I’ll be a good boy and keep my mouth clean or you’ll watch it out!
Nice Poem, Sheri.
Don’t forget Argog and Charlotte. They actually are good spiders. They already pissed at Paotie!
Vampires, twilight, new moon, eclipse, breaking dawn, and red wine.
Draculas?
On a serious note, I would like to say I understand the jest with regard to some people ya’all aren’t crazy about, however, I am never comfortable when names are mentioned. I know there’s been mudslinging on both sides which frankly gets rather ugly and becomes moot when its childish. I’m talking overall, in accummulation with everything on Deafread, not this particular post nor any particular commenter. I have had the opportunity to get to know John Egbert working with him on California issues, as well as the DBC. He is really a nice man, and has a lot of good points and understands both sides more than it apparently shows. Also have had great dialouges with regard to AFA’s stance on audism. Whether some people like the term or not, it is what it is, and has become more widely accepted regardless. The avearge “Deaf joe” I talk to out there, fully identifies with the oppression audism defined. Maybe we aren’t always comfortable with “how to’s” but fact is, whether we like a person or not, they – DBC, AFA, etc. are made up of fine individuals who collectively are at least doing something about some of these issues. And that is what I support. If we don’t like the “how to’s” at least share your opinion with the group in question instead of talking with each other because that doesnt always help make the changes within. I wish it were possible for many of you would get involved with such groups to help make the changes you all know we need for the future. I understand the stance against AGB, even more so the last two years becuz of the sneaky attempts by their lobbyiest to come to California and change some laws. Thankfully, legislators contact me each time to seek approval. Thats when my eyes became opened, and the “WTF”? attitude. Really, there is alot more to share, but perhaps at a later time on a different blog. Paotie’s site is my sanity. We need to have a FUN way to bond, cuz ya know folks, Life is short.
Thanks for listening.
Sheri ..
Your opinions are duly noted. Likewise, some people disagree with you.
And to that end, the DBC still sucks. So does DeafRead.
And the Knicks, too.
OoOooOOoOh!
Paotie
Sheri,
I’ll look into my comment feed and see if it’s on.
David (or rather , Karen or Brian can relay the message, I’m so amazed that you read these books three times! Kind of reminds me of my friends in my pre-teen years that tend to watch movies 10 times over!!! Thanks for not sharing any spoilers, although I am a sucker for spoilers!
I agree, Bella should be able to decide…however, Edward not wanting her to be a vampire was a very selfless act, something that I guess is hard for many people to understand? We live in a generation of me’s and our selfish need without regard to others. Kind of awe inspiring that Edward feels the way he does. Had I been Bella, I’d be as stubborn as her.
And finally, Sheri, yah, I do get what you’re saying. Yet, if I were you, I’d be telling someone I know and met that there were things that he should stop doing. I don’t know if you read some of the stuffs out there, but this guy just don’t know when to quit. It’s not his views, but the way how he gets personal with certain people time and time again – like for example, just a week ago he did the exact same thing to someone. I like to keep the peace, but if someone needs to taste his/her own medicine, I’d be happy to provide the dose. ahh, I should have been a nurse!
It’s late and I got sidetracked (yup reading THAT novel among other things…)
Ben and Paotie, I hope you guys get things rollin. If you guys need help, holla
Nite
Candy, thanks for understanding where I am coming from, appreciate it. FYI, I am not always aware of who says what, so no clue what you mean about what he said or did last week. I’m sure if you were appalled I would be too. However, I’m sure you will agree, if we resort to the same level, we are no better. IF we are consistent in a manner whereby we demonstrate by our actions in a positive and constructive fashion, rise above it all and focus on the issue, we will get far better results in the long run. Anyhow, Candy, thanks, agree with you about Bella, sounds like our kind of gal- you rock!
Paotie, tis okay if anyone disagrees with me. Its how we disagree that I am talkin’ bout. For example, I don’t agree that bedbugs are worse than spiders, or vice versa. When they both suck, thats when its bad. Capice?
wink.
Btw, hope to see you do a spiel about Eva!
Thanks for allowing me to join you all today! . I fly to LA tomw for a meeting so may not have an oppty to get online. I miss this group! Will never forget the fun we had on election night!
Looking forward to our new deaf book club site!
xo
What sparked that Sheri? umm??
mwahs! You’re still my favorite!
Ben, Someone mentioned a bad Eggplant Parmigiana recipe or something or the other.
Definitely NITE to you all!
Not guilty!
I’ll say more later, I just finished up a progrma and sent it off, now it is bed time!
Later all, later!
Hiya all, I’m baaaaaack!
Candy, yea, I definitely agree with you. Regarding David, I meant. I really wish he could join us cuz he is at our level in book reading. But he is still a kid and I want him to stay a kid (he has plenty of time to learn all the dirty stuff later) – at times it is hard for Karen and I to remind ourselves of that. NOTE: he will not be joining us. He promised that he would not read this stuff and he is pretty good at keeping them. He was very disappointed, of course, but hey, not everyone can have everything.
Now, I really need to say this. You all are just about the only friends or people I can talk with. I have a real beef with John. I have tried many times to be civil with him and he keeps brushing me off. So, I have vowed to be uncivil with him. It might sound silly and immature, but I don’t know how else to treat him. Definitely not treating him as an adult that is for sure. Someone needs to go up to him and slap him around! I know, I make mistakes and I have said sorry for them. That is the thing with John, he has never, ever apologized once to anyone for his mistakes. I have zero tolerance for those kind of people. To me, John is a bull with a ring on his nose and letting everyone string him around. Of course, that is my opinion. But all the things he is preaching about is all from the Deafhood workbook. I have all the DH workbook/guides if anyone wants them. I just think that John is being used and being taken advantage of. He has money and people are milking him for it.
But the other beef I have is that the groups like DBC and AFA thinks they speak for the whole deaf community and that is just wrong. Plain and simple. I don’t want them going out and protesting against AGBell, what the hell for? AGBell is not going to change for them, so they should be redirecting their energy else where! But, oh no, we are wrong!! We are the dumb ones. We don’t know what we are talking about. That is the mentality that those two organizations see in us.
Sheri, yes, please share with us all that you know and have been through cuz we need to know so that we can prepare ourselves as well.
All this could be just me blowing off steam – maybe cuz I’m totally clueless?! Not getting the real facts is frustrating. There is just about nothing in Deafread that we can completely trust. That is why it sucks!
Anyway, how is the Deaf Book Club coming out? http://www.deafbookclub.com is still available!
Sorry. Need any help or whatever?
ahh…trying again…the first message dissapeared on me…am typing this on a phone.
Brian, I’m with u on this. Here’s the thing, we all have ignored him and refrained from referring to him as anything derogatory. yet he still digs up shit and goes after people like he did last week to an individual whom I hardly know. Notice how he used a PDF created originally by another blogger?? Maybe someone oughta be giving him advice if he is that vulnerable.
ok….whats up with the book club thus far?! great day and TGIF!!!!!!
Oh, yes, TGIF! It means that my son and I can play computer games all weekend!! Yay! Even tho, you blows me away every time…
No, I don’t have any idea what you are talking about, but I can get the picture. That is who he is and I pity him, ummm, I don’t know, maybe not.
Better hurry up with the DBC site cuz we have another one waiting to go up called the Deaf Gardening Club!
Although, Kim’s “Green Eats” (http://greeneats.wordpress.com/) is an awesome site, check it out!
Ohhhh good lord….
i feel bad for paotie now…i’m the 93rd comment! LOLOLOLOLOL!!!
I must first apologize to y’all! Yesterday was my day off and I could stay on and chat and chat allllll day but today is not. I have a couple of errands to run now and I’ll be back.
Curious question! Do we want to get http://www.deafbookclub.com or go for wordpress.com first? (let me see how many sites I have lololol)
benvess.com, deafchange.com, vadeafrally.com, deafproject.com, and townsigner.com
How about this?! Since I’m not using my deafproject.com, let’s use it. That way on the site we can do “dbc.deafproject.com” for DBC, “DMC.deafproject.com” for Deaf Movie Club… And so forth…
I could set up separate wordpress for each “club” and each one of us could moderate different wordpress club??
I think deafproect would be awesome considering the fact I’m so so so sure (more sure of this than my own eventual death lol) we’ll come up with another club or something. (TV club! My housewives!!!!)
Maybe Boards for book club and blog for movies…or whatever?
Ben will hush now and start getting busy so he can come back and talk about phallic movies hahahahaha!
or to be less confusing…
deafproject.com/books, deafproject.com/movies..and all dat??
then we can have a secret forum: deafproject.com/idear (i do not expect a reply) club hahahahahahhahahaha!
Candy and Brian ..
I agree. Or put another way, Mishka wrote an article last year titled, “They are trying to divide us!”
Who is “they?”
Me? Nuh-uh. Rachel? Nuh-uh. McConnell? Nuh-uh. Candy? Nuh-uh. The Mayes? Nuh-uh.
So .. who is “they?”
Sure looks to me like “they” is Amy, Mishka, Deaf Pundit, and Dianrez, among other DeafRead members/editors/groupies.
Paotie
Bennie!! (You can slap me!)
Ben, Ben!! That is such an awesome idea! I love deafproject.com/books, deafproject.com/movies..and deafproject.com/idear!! Totally for it. Let me know if you need any help, I’m a good grunt worker!
Paotie –
+1 I miss the “Nuh-uh” group!
And Ben, maybe deafproject.com/gardening?
Me pumped here!
But I expectually love the movie one cuz I have a s*** load to talk about!
I have to agree with everyone above me, Sheri Farinha.
As much as I love you, I’d have to say I’m a bit cautious about John “Eggplant,” you see, whenever he disagreed with me, he would go for the jugular. I need professional help? I’m a deficit thinker?
Most recent, of course, he brought DeafHope in his tirade and said DeafHope supports me?! Implying that I’m an abuser. You see…Ella started that shit and you know it.
He never apologized or at least owned up to it.
I can’t call him a nice person. He’s gone so personal so many times I just don’t want anything to do with him and would not dismiss any “Eggplant” comments.
“Hurt me once, shame on you. Hurt me twice, shame on me.”
You know…
That’s my beef, that’s all.
I wanted deafproject for something else like 4 years ago and never got around to it…I didn’t want to lose the hold on it because you see, I own it!
dammit!
LOL and now, this is a far much better use for the site than my idea lolololol!
Yess /garden so I guess Karen and Kim is going to take care of that one?! hahaha
the movie one sure can be yours!
I think I want the TV one LOLOLOL I have DVR and watch everything all night every night!
Yea!! It is a cool URL handle! deafproject. You bet!
I’ll be happy to take the movie part, now you’ll have to stay up all day watching the movies I would suggest for viewing… So, no sleep for you, pal!
You have a DVR?? Cool, maybe you can steam the TV programs to me??
Now get back to partying!!
I have HBO. So I can DVR them out!
Streaming tv shows? uhmm maybe I should check out hulu.com
yes let the partay begin!
You have HBO!! Then you had better stream Entourage Season 5 with CC to me… Now!
Change of subject…
Tree Grows in Lung
Huh? Even it is reported on CNN.com. Impossible for the tree to grow in anyone’s lung??? Inhaling, yup, but… growing…?
Ben, sounds like part of Body Snatchers from Mars? ;o)
Wow…lots of comments, I’m feeling a bit guilty contributing to some more.
Trees in lungs? I read that it wasn’t possible. haha. Don’t eat seeds! Any kind of seeds!
Then I must have 20 million plants growing in me cuz I eat every seed I chew on. Aaaahh! Maybe I’m a plant?! Attack of the Body Snatchers! Run!
It’s Mars Attacks! Run! Martian Girl is here! Run! Paotie is in love with Martian Girl! Wow! I’m impressed! Run!
Body Snatchers? Mars will defeat ‘em! Run!
