Religion: Do Not Let Mormons Steal Your Soul!
Denver – Good morning, everybody! I hope yesterday went well for you. The Eitoap Eschatological Review has announced that due to the ongoing economical, presidential and elected-president-not-yet-presidential crises plaguing the country, attendance at Mormon churches around the country has reached an all-time low!
Graves around the world are being disinterred! Bones are being baptized! Souls are being stolen!
I swear to God – cross my heart and have some pie!
Ya’know, it’s bad enough you have to watch out for neighborhood-walking salesmen, always ready and willing to coerce you into becoming a brick on their road to heaven. And! Plus! Evidently, when Mormons run out of doors to knock on, they do the next best thing – knock on coffins.
“Mmmm .. ‘kay,” you say?
I know!
I feel the same way!
Two things: 1) cremation; 2) I’m glad I am an atheist.
Be good .. or be good at it.

You know this one really gets under my skin…Mormons/Morons thinking its OK to violate the deceased Holocaust victims through “proxy” baptism. I think they would be singing a different tune if someone went around and started raping the bodies of dead Mormons.
Baptizing the dead?
What’s worse is baptizing the dead whose life was destroyed because they were Jewish.
Jews for centuries have been kicked out of countries, systematically tortured and murdered because they refused to convert or just slighted because they were Jewish.
Now they can’t even rest in peace.
LOL, Nice satire.
For all those that don’t know there are no graves being dug up. This issue is baptisms of live individuals standing in proxy for those that have passed on. Not to fill membership rolls, but to give every member of the human race a chance to accept or reject the saving ordinance of baptism.
So the question is are the Mormons wasting their time or not? The Jews seem to think that they must have the authority to make this happen, or else why the issue?
I do not care if the cult is wasting its time or not. I do not care if the cult’s intentions are honorable. I do not care if they dig up a grave or not. This is simply ghoulish. I’ve always been one to look the other way when someone is worshipping their snake god, or rock god or whatever. But I assure you that if I catch one of those nutjobs desecrating the grave of my loved ones, not even their cartoon character Maroni will be able to stop my retaliation. Personally, I have no use for Stone Age bugaboos or Industrialist Era frauds.
This proxy is symbolic and while it might not mean much to me, it seems to mean a lot to some people. My godmother was never with me when I was baptized, since she couldn’t be there, my mom had someone stood in for her by proxy and all my life I had to deal with both ladies fighting over this “godmother” title. Perhaps, we should just do way with proxies in general.
Just plain stupid, but say the word “holocaust” and it brings up old scars that are still raw….what do you do?
To say that the Mormon church actually digs up graves and baptizes bones is not only slanderous, but very ignorant. I am sure when this article was written, there was no research in to how baptisms by proxy are performed.
It is a simple belief that offers the relatives of those who have passed on the opportunity of baptism. It doesn’t mean that those that have passed on are baptized in to the Mormon church. It doesn’t pull names of dead people at random either. The genealogy is done by the relatives of the deceased.
It’s amazing what people will put on the internet without any consequence.
Don’t get me wrong – I have a great dislike for Mormonism. However, people are going to get the wrong idea from reading your article and it’s important that they dislike Mormonism for the right reasons.
You clearly did not read the article that you linked to. As several people have said, Mormons do NOT dig up dead bodies but use proxies. I feel it’s insulting for you to say that they dig up dead bodies of Holocaust victims, most of whom do not have bodies to be dug up.
I can understand the Jewish communities anger with what is going on. I believe, however, that Mormonism is a fake and made up religion. With that said, baptisms by proxy or any other obscure process should be laughed off as a desperate attempt to hone in words spoken by the Apostle Paul in one passage. I would definitely be upset with them baptizing Jews that they weren’t related to, but again, I think that any Mormon practice should be taken with a grain of salt.Their lack of respect here just shows how laughable they really are.
I’ve done genealogy research for years and do access Mormon’s Latter Day Saints site because the records they have and provide to the public are not necessarily Mormons, but also consists of non-Mormons. It’s one of the most awesome place to check out genealogy records. And, yes, majority of them are done by members, on their relatives who are not Mormons.
*shrug*
All religions SUCKS.
But, I’ll take a direct relationship between HIM and myself, any day.
Angsty ..
You said: “I think that any Mormon practice should be taken with a grain of salt.Their lack of respect here just shows how laughable they really are.”
Right.
I’m tired. Don’t wanna to talk about the doors. I appreciate their services….it’s all the past and let the Jews go and rest in peace.
Same ole’ thing……nothin’ new.
*sigh*
Me finish this.
BTW….Congrats for being Paotie’s ladies…..take a nice look at Jodi from Italy’s blog……wanna see you getting blush…if you do, good job, girl, Jodi.
Yeah, I read that on CNN.com. Every religion has its quirks, I guess…
One thing I don’t understand… why ONLY young Mormon men are allowed to be missionaries, traveling, while young Mormon women… do what?
See how much I know about Mormons… not much.
Well, the religions are the means of having control over the groups and some people take advantage of it, and there are plenty of people who have the “they are missing something” emotion to fall victim.
Karen,
Young Mormon women also go on missions, only instead of lasting for two years, they have the option of serving six months up to two years. It is not a mandatory thing for anyone to go on a mission, but is preferred, with the exception of women. It is understood that young women might want to go to school and serve the communities in other ways. There is actually more pressure on men, because they are generally expected to both go to school and serve on a mission, both of which cost money.
I am organizing an equivalent Jewish group to seek out Mormons with possible Jewish ancestry and preform ritual circumcision.
While I understand the feeling behind your wish, that wouldn’t accomplish anything since pretty much everyone gets their boys circumcised for health reasons nowadays.
Did I say ‘boys’?
Clearly you didn’t, but boys grow up to be men, and since the trend of circumcision for health really started in the 1950s, I’d assume most men in the Mormon church are circumcised.
If you’re targeting women as well, you have a serious issue.
Well, this is a switch, from American politics to that verboten subject, religion.
Some Mormons claim the proxy baptism is a “freewill offering”. Those Jews who died in the Holocaust didn’t die with “freewill” but were forced to their executions because of their faith. The Mormons should let the sleeping souls lie and leave well enough alone. I can see why the relatives of those who died in the Holocaust would find such a practice a travesty and lack of respect.
BTW the Jews are not the only ones upset with the Mormon Church over this practice, the Catholic Church has taken steps to prevent the Mormon practice on dead Catholics, Holocaust or not. So, it’s not just a Jewish feud.
Fascinating subject. I had NO idea about the practices to “save” or “baptisize” the deaf people. I knew about Malaysia’s practice to visit and celebrate deaf relatives on one day in a year, according to the culture or religion, I am not sure which one, leaving food at the grave, dancing, etc…. But Western religions… nah, except for Catholic’s practices to help ensure the souls to get out of “purgatory” into heaven…
I’m seriously “praying” that was just a typo, otherwise you’ve just completely offended the hard of hearing.
Um, Angsty Former Mormon, are you referring to “baptisize” in Karen’s message as a typo? I’m sure she meant “baptize”.
I’ll be sure to consult you, the “typo expert”, for “typos”.
How about cutting some slack for those who are less than perfect on their spelling or grammar and cranking down that angst of yours down a notch?
Thanx (and that’s a spelling idiom, not a typo)
Oops… I apologize for the misspelling.
)
I’m not offended…..
Karen did you mean dead and not deaf? LOL!!!
Karen…you sly fox.
baptisized vs. baptized
Looked up into the dictionary on baptisized…it was not there.
Make sure to take a look at your best friend, dictionary, before it jumps the gun.
Sly fox?….dictionary could be the one. LOL.
I meant that Karen’s slip-of-tongue, “deaf” instead of “dead” was a mickey that slipped past me. I read it as “dead” myself, LOL. But I’m not offended when Karen says “deaf” instead of “dead”. Karen herself is deaf.
The opposite happens with hearing people calling deaf people as “dead” people, and that’s when it is offensive.
Huh, I typed without thinking… not on purpose… could be a Freudian slip.
Sorry.
Oh I see…
d and f are the next door in the keyboard’s neighborhood.
LOL.
Wow, I wasn’t aware of this practice. Seems really disrespectful.
There was a proposition against marriage equality (allowing same-sex couples to be married) that was just passed in California on election day. A lot of people say that it passed due to efforts and funding of (non-Californian) Mormon church money. No idea if that could have caused negative PR for the Mormon church though or caused members to not be as interested in going to church.
Or maybe I’m just randomly associating the last bit of Mormon news I read with your comment about low church attendance.
