2008 Presidential Election: Mac Strikes Back
Denver – Good afternoon, everybody! I hope you voted! John McCain has been madly stumping around the country, trying to spur voters to vote for him. And! Plus! The reason McCain has been focusing on Colorado and New Mexico – the two most important states in the United States tonight – is because he disappeared behind Sarah Palin and her $150,000 dress!
I am not kidding you!
Anyway .. the first polling stations will soon close (it is almost 4:00 PM MST) and then the counting begins. And then a long, nervous wait begins, too.
And then we’ll have to wait and see if the United States of America becomes a nation of 49 states if Florida screws up the election once again.
Hear that, Florida?!
Yah!
Soon, we’re all going to know who the next president will be!
Hopefully.
Adios!
Paotie

Man, I’m telling ya, if Florida or Ohio screws up again, I dunno what I’m gonna do – something drastic! haha!
Sheri ..
If Ohio and Florida screw up, we’ll just kick ‘em outta the Union!
Is that drastic enough?
Yah!
Numbers are screwy…too early to tell. CNN and MSNBC has different numbers… KY is McCain so far, IN is Obama so far…still has more returns coming in. Karen, your vote counted! (so far)
GA, SC, and VA closes in 17 min or so….It’s gonna be a LONG nite!!!
Did you hear about the Starbucks’ home state, Washington State? It’s illegal….but election officials and Starbucks fixed the problem and provided voters to get a free cup of tall coffee.
http://www.kirotv.com/news/17885256/detail.html?rss=sea&psp=northsoundnews
What a bum…….no taxes for Washington State(rs)!!!!!
Grrrr!
Sounds right …..
Free cup to everyone even if they didn’t vote….
I did kind of wondered about that promotion. Talk about equal access!
Oh, BTW, I am STILL getting phone calls from both parties in my house!!! Annoying! It’s recorded and I hung up right away.
Didya all just see this story about the pregnant woman who’s waterbroke but returned to the polls to vote before going back to hospital, contractions and all?!? http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-137033
Contractions couldn’t be that close together if she’s able to stand, much less smile! lol.
I want to share something…
It is about electoral votes and popular votes. I see McCain has more electoral votes for now, and I know it can change. I checked internet to get more info about electoral votes vs. popular votes…
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20071229165344AASFSgu
Hmmm… so electoral votes are more important than popular votes… to protect government from “stupid people”. So there is really no democracy, huh?
Dahlings…
We are overlooking one important thing…
Electoral votes.
So far McCain is leading in the number of electoral votes. Popular votes mean nothing.
Of course, that can change in a few hours… or not.
Hmmm….
Ahhhh… Obama is now leading…
Sheri, Wow!, well, every woman is different. I was 10 centimeters and nary felt a pain with my first one…
Yah, Karen, I think that if I remembered right, in the beginning it’s all Republicans and then the Dems starts to catch up. We’ll see.
Ya, know I was thinking, one way to solve problems with Florida, especially the Felons is to allow them to vote. Some states allows Felons to vote as long as they are not on probation or parole.
No, Candy….Starbucks were supposed to give the voters the free *small* cup of coffee!
There is a but…..
Washington State provided the voters a free *tall* which is considering a *large* cup of coffee!
See? *Shrug*
see saw night?
WG,
ooohhhhh! Not equal access!!
Duh!
Candy, well you must’ve been one strong woman, I think I re-enacted Bill Cosby’s explanation about his wife when she was in labor. Matter of fact, I kept saying, “more drugs, more drugs”!
Karen dear, yeah, I always forget how them electoral votes count so I looked up a good explanation in case I’m not the only one who gets confused: “Most of the time, electors cast their votes for the candidate who has received the most votes in that particular state. Some states have laws that require electors to vote for the candidate that won the popular vote, while other electors are bound by pledges to a specific political party. However, there have been times when electors have voted contrary to the people’s decision, and there is no federal law or Constitutional provision against it.” http://people.howstuffworks.com/question472.htm
Gotta hit the road to go home and glue myself to the TV with family and friends! Paotie, I hope you don’t change the article so I can stay tuned with you all via pager connected to this one! Selfish of me?
Hope we can all celebrate later on tonight!
Go, Go Obama!
Candy ..
I just HAD to ask and was told that 10 cm dilation equals baby dropping straight outta the Mamma.
Okay .. I learned something new today!
I really don’t understand what the heck ya’ll are talking about but it cracks me up anyway.
Funny stuffs!
Sheri ..
Will do. Please be safe driving! Please do not read this blog whilst driving!
See ya!
Sheri….why would you think that Candy is a strong woman?!?! Oh…..she prefers to be natural birth not the espierl (sp?) (back shot during the labor) Good girl, Candy, no more drugs! LOL!
And I am a wimp ;o) I literally begged for drugs during the active labor with my two kids… guess I have low tolerance for pain. Not sure how to connect labor pains with this presidential election? Who brings more painful contractions… McCain or Obama?
Ha.
It’s a battleground…..too many states that is now close to call….we’re screwed.
So…..it’s contractions right now!
Ahh, I did experience pain with subsequent kids though. LOL I think anyone who tolerates pain is STRONG.
No, there was no epidural when I was 10 cm, WG. True biz.
Hahaha… I see both candidates are in tight race for popular votes.
Poof, poof, eee eee whoooo whhoooo… whatever, I forgot the Lazamese breathing part…
Election contractions! LOL!
McCain brings more, I think.
I got the c-section twice….with a specific reason…..my pelvis’ balance is irregular…luckily I got my menstruation comes regularly…whew…ya know it’s rare. I’m 7 of 9! hee, hee, hee…..
Like I mentioned in an earlier blog of Paotie’s, ya got a looo-oonn-nng wait. Palin’s state doesn’t close polls ’til 1 am Eastern time, and then the final votes will have to be counted even so. Are mail-in votes counted first or last?
I just hope we don’t have pregnant chads hanging us all in suspense…sorry, couldn’t resist the reference to, ah, labor pains and contractions.
LOL
Yup, it’s amazing how it is all related somehow…
Long nite that’s for sure and who knows what transpires while we sleep…
Wow! If I am reading the results correctly, Democrats have control of the House already. The Senate still has 21 open seats, yet…
If Obama wins and has control of Congress, the Elephants are gonna be on a stampede!
Elizabeth Dole, Bob Dole’s wife lost the bid for the re-election as a 2nd term senator……their eras are beginning to fade……
Dole’s from Texas?
Karen, ya know, the colors could change. Indiana only has about 50 percent of ballots counted as well as Florida and a number of other states. Like Ann_C said, a LOOOOOooooooOOOOOoooooOOOng nite.
No, Doles’ from North Carolina.
We shall see the moody rings……
Actually, WG and Candy, if memory serves me correctly, Bob Dole was a Senator who represented Kansas and ran on the GOP prez ticket against Bill Clinton (first term?). They’ve probably resided in North Carolina since Dole’s last campaign, which effectively retired him from the Senate, all told.
His wife Elizabeth is a sharp politician, but because she is Republican in a state going Democrat, it’s not going too well for her.
Ann_C, You said we won’t know until 1 am, is that EST? I’m looking at the map and it says Alaska polls close in less than 3 hours.
I have a gut feeling Obama is going to win. Anyone up for a bet? No money involved… lol
Yup, as I said, Eastern time. We’ve all converted to Standard time, I believe, since Sunday.
That’s right, Ann_C. I have a vivid memory about the Doles…..
BTW, Candy, I saw Deaf Chip’s vlog….I truly think that he does not get it with the UN thing….it’s technical for the refugees and their transfers from country to country, therefore, it considers that the UN has a custody of the refugees until the political asylums are all settled.
I understand with all the sarcasms and satires…..Once you get to know someone who experts in the sarcasms and satires, you will get it….like I am with Paotie and Deaf Pundit…..
OMG! O won Ohio and New Mexico!
Yeah, WG, they take it too personal. DP was being sarcastic and they could have laughed it off and disagree and still get along. I actually thought it was funny. What is even funnier is that Ella coined up the term Bogeyman and apparently it is offensive, still.
Another thing, Deaf Chip is not American. Maybe that is why he looks to UN.
LOL
Ann_C, you had me pondering your comment! I know we converted, but, sometimes I have contact with other co-workers on the east coast and if we set up conference call, usually they’ll say EST even prior to standard time change. So, the proper terminology would be?? Eastern Time prior to day light savings and Eastern Standard Time after?
Here is something interesting I just found out. My kid has a friend who is African American and used to live in a metropolitan area, told my kid that normally most AA in the Ghetto and the Hood do not vote, but, this time they are. We live in a small town which is predominately white and there are very few people of color here. So,if Obama wins, we’ll know why. Although, this is just a theory….
CNN is reporting that two McCain aides “see no path to victory”.
Really?
I saw it like .. this morning, man!
Candy ..
That’s really interesting. I think in the end, the precedent has been set and I hope this election inspires more people to vote and be active in politics.
I just hope the acrimonious nature that we’ve all been watching, reading and experiencing ends and soon. There comes a time when all this fighting is counterproductive for everyone involved.
Ya’know?
Yup, and looks like total control of Congress too! This is historical!
EST, dears.
I just remember Ella in her blog inveying against calling hearing parents “bogeymen”.
“Bogeymen” is a form of finger-pointing.
Well, if not the hearing parents, then surely enough the group think is going to point fingers at something else as “bogeymen”, such as the doctors or medical community, bashed in Deafchip’s vlog. Oh, well…
Some are still back there pointing fingers at parents…and at “troublemakers”. *sigh*
I saw Luke Russert, Tim Russert’s son is now reporting for the NBC. How neat is that? NBC have so much respected in Luke’s, because of his Dad…..I got goosebumps!!!!
Tim Russert was the moderator for the NBC’s “Meet the Press.”
They say that McCain had 10% more White voters, But, that the majority of White college educated kids voted for Obama.
Yeah, Ann_C….that made me to feel like I throw my fists at Ella!
I looked up the dictionary and could not find the word, inveying…..
CNN is projecting that OBAMA WON!!!!
OBAMA won!!!!!!
They’re celebrating in my home town!
Whoo! Gosh I miss Chicago so BAD….
LOL
Where is my favorite talk show queen, Oprah?
This came via email from Sheri ..
“Hey Paotie! Hi from Sacramento, California! I can’t seem to log onto your site

- he wis! The polls wll close in CA soon now. And we should be seeing California
whup those red states asses! Chicago! Woso symbolic of MLK’s speech, “I have a
dream”. Awesome! I feel sooo inspired!!! More to come! With you all in spirit! ”
Awesome!
Cool!
Aww Jesse Jackson is cryin….
Hey, NBC announced it first?
I’m gonna be gluing on to the TV!
Awesome!
oh yes, Jesse Jackson must have thought about his friend, Martin Luther King……he was there when MLK died at the scene.
I understand his feelings…..I’m with his feelings…..
WG, ah, should use my spell-checker more often.
Inveying to “inveighing”, meaning to make a strong attack against.
